I have started a quilt intended for the grandson of a dear friend.  I haven’t been given a brief – which I prefer.  If a recipient has expectations, then the quilt will rarely match up unless they have shown me precisely what they want.

I have chosen a design with repeated Exploding Star blocks in primary colours.  Each star uses three shades of one colour, a contrast colour, and a centre feature.  I have chosen solids for the three colours, and dots for the contrast.  The feature is a graphic design of cars.  The background will be a variety of black, white and cream graphic prints.

I’m currently sorting my solids to give a good range of ‘boy colours’.

I have a varied collection of neutrals for the background that should work well.
